Chlorhexidine has been used as a disinfectant and topical antiseptic since the 1950s. Its broad antimicrobial activity is bacteriostatic and bactericidal on gram-positive, gram-negative bacteria and fungi.

  • A study by Gupta, et al (2024) found that CHX showed strong inhibitory and biocidal effects on Candia Auris.
